Our child has been attending PSOLI for years. She loves the school! It has been such a supportive and nurturing environment for her. We love the confidence that she has developed through all the opportunities that the plays, talent shows, spelling bees, and special projects afford. These children really learn to be comfortable on stage and how to present themselves before an audience. They learn by doing. The teachers also do a great job working with a student where extra help is needed, as well as providing an advanced curriculum to provide additional academic challenges when warranted. We're so happy with our choice.

I could not have made a better choice for my son. He started at Progressive in K and is now in 5th grade. He loves to go to school every day. He is not only learning but becoming a wonderful individual. They have quiet time in the morning which helps the students have a relaxed and enjoyable day. It is a lot of hands on learning, not text book learning. Art, Math , Science and Reading-English, just to name a few subjects, are taught in such ways that the children embrace them! Don't miss out on this truly wonderful school for your child! You''ll be happy you did!

We transferred our daughter into Progressive mid-year last year. My daughter was having a miserable time in first grade until we transferred her! It was the best decision we could have made. She now loves to go to school. The staff is extremely dedicated to the students as well as the school. Learning is hands on, creative and very enriched. My daughter doesn't even know what a test is! Assessment is performance based and the curriculum is customized for each child. There is a strong sense of community and family. My daughter told me there are no bullies at Progressive!

Having watched an entire class of children go through PSOLI has been a joy. The curriculum they cover, the positive attitudes they develop towards themselves and the world, the generosity of the teachers with their time and affection towards each child is incredible. You won't find an education like this in any public school.

My two children started with the Progressive School Fall of 2011. In that time my husband and I have watched them grow and develop in ways we never even imagined. Eric, the faculty and staff at Progressive have created and nurtured a love of learning and community in my children that can only be described as magical. This year, at the end of our summer vacation, I mentioned in passing that it would only be a few short days until school started again. The response from my children was a joyful cheer. They could not wait to get back to their Progressive School family. While my friends were cajoling their children to have a positive attitude towards their return to school, my children were discussing all the events and lessons they knew would be planned for the year. My husband and I knew then we had made the right decision for the children's education. It goes without saying that The Progressive School offers the highest standards in academics but the focus on community and collective learning is what sets the school apart. Developing the whole individual and assisting the child to find their most authentic self, these are the goals we hoped The Progressive School would help our children achieve. And so far, they are doing an amazing job. I highly recommend The Progressive School of Long Island.

At Progressive School of LI, my daughter does not have to be pressured into learning for state standardized tests. She is learning through an enriched curriculum with hands on experiences, class projects and electives. Progressive teachers truly care about their students and make learning fun. The director is incredible as he knows each and every student, understands and is ready to help them at any given time. My daughter started in Kindergarten and is now in 5th grade. She has grown to be a confident individual and we know it has to do with her classroom and school environment. We look forward to sending our younger son next year. We are so excited to be a part of this wonderful school!

PSOLI has a very kind community of teachers and kids. Respect to other people and cultures is expected. And this works - we saw the difference from our previous school. Kids become passionate about their learning - probably because of projects (free choice) which are a big part of the curriculum. Easy acceleration on subjects. Kids'' ideas are taken seriously. The school makes them believe they can make the world a better place for everyone. I saw my daughter becoming more confident, independent and empathic. Just check the web site if the philosophy fits your family values. The school follows its philosophy almost religiously. Overall, it is a happy, safe and challenging space.
