Students in our wheelhouse: Milestones` expertise is educating students with disabilities that may affect social communication, executive functioning, sensory processing coping skills, emotional regulation, and academic achievement due to co-occurring learning and therapeutic disabilities. Many of our students are diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Some students have co-occurring challenges such as anxiety, mental health concerns, or specific learning disabilities. These challenges often impact students` abilities to access both their education and therapeutic functioning. Through Milestones` cohesive and comprehensive instruction with explicit and embedded lessons, students are able to achieve goals and increase their confidence. Our multidisciplinary team strives to lead students to self-discovery and empowering the, to become confident, engaged learners and self-determined community members. Our students often experience true peer friendships tor the first time.
Milestones` program uses a developmental-based philosophy to understand children. We believe our students don`t have "behaviors" but rather are missing developmental skills. Milestones helps students by teaching those critical skills to enable true growth that generalizes beyond the walls of our school.
We have a strong parent-partnership program where parents and staff work in collaboration to help students achieve goals.
We offer an intensive therapeutic approach with daily instruction on social skills, coping and sensory skills, executive functioning, emotional development, and self-esteem. Our therapeutic programming is provided side-by-side with our rigorous academic curriculum.
Milestones also offers an innovative transitions program for students age 16-22. Students who are of transition age participate in internships where they gain valuable work experience and some of our students also participate in dual enrollment where they attend college with support during school hours.
We have a rolling admission and tours of our facility are given weekly.
