School Notes

Grace Christian Academy is a Junior Kingergarten - 8th grade private, Christian school, located in Fairfax County, just minutes from the District of Columbia. GCA was established in 1973 and serves a diverse student body.Grace Christian Academy is a part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) - one of the largest private school systems in the country.

Grace Christian Academy provides its students with an exceptional academic program, coupled with deep study in God's word. We offer small class sizes in a caring environment. Our low faculty-to-student ratio - 9:1 - sets our scholars up for success at GCA and beyond. Our mixed-grade classrooms give our faculty the unique opportunity to provide an education based on the individual needs and strengths of each scholar. Our graduates go on to thrive in our local public and private school systems, including Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate(IB) programs.

Our Mission: Grace ChristianAcademy exists to nurture its children and reach out to our community with a Bible-based Christian education. We provide each child with a superior education while developing the best skills for each individual to live a productive life. We believe that Christian education promotes the welfare of the entire person.

Grace Christian Academy is fully accredited by the National Council of Private School Accreditation (NCPSA). We offer strong academic programs through methods and materials in a safe, caring, and educational environment.

Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. with supervised after-school care and Homework Club continuing on well past the 3:30 bell. Our school day includes:
  • Deep study and growth in God`s word
  • Rigorous, challenging, and adaptive lessons in Math, Reading, Phonics, Spelling, Social Studies, Science, and Computer Literacy
  • Attention to fine arts through Physical Education, and our exploratory programs which include Spanish, German, French, Italian, Home Economics/Life Skills, Tone Chimes, and Photography.
In addition to educating for useful skills, cultivating cultural interests and social graces, promoting physical health, and developing the special gifts and talents of the individual child, GCA endeavors to train our scholars to think for themselves, discover on their own, and learn proper study habitsThrough education in secular subjects, it prepares the student for daily living in the world; through formal religious training and the influence of Christian teachers, it provides for a proper relationship with God and one's fellow human beings. The particular strength of the school as an agency of Christian education is that it provides for the daily strengthening of the Christian values already started in the home. It allows for the training of the student for a life of ministry in the church and the world. Grace Christian Academy operates cooperatively with education in public schools. GCA provides positive Christian instruction and training, which the public schools are not expected to do and cannot provide. GCA works to coordinate its curriculum with the public schools at each grade level to allow for easy transfer.
