I could never imagine my kids in a traditional school. My husband and I toured everything and Blue Ridge Montessori School was the only one that was truly different even from the private schools. It's a place where kids were encouraged to explore, try, fail, try again, question and so much more. We recently just got a new leadership team who is bringing so much more to the school and ensuring everything Montessori is happening. My 4 year had the opportunity to explore writing in cursive and as she would be it my teacher gives me a lesson every day. Those lessons are one on one and at the appropriate level for where she is academic. My son who is now 7 was always told the topic he wanted to learn wasn't developmentally appropriate for his age. My son is gifted and has autism. What developmental appropriate for him is different from my other child. This school values that. They understand he wants to learn and discuss things at a different level than most kids his age and that is encouraged. Under this new team, I look forward to seeing my kids blossom and the school grow. Come check them out. Just a fun fact...Blue Ridge Montessori School was the first Montessori school in this area. The founder is still at the school every day helping out.

The quality and standards of the school have gone down tremendously - they don't use Montessori methodology and are more traditionally driven. And its expensive school. Teachers do preferential treatment to kids.

I''m amazed at what my children can do!! The staff lovingly care for my children while at school. They foster my kids'' interests as they guide them through the Montessori materials. I am allowed to observe my children as they work. After a while, they forget I am even there! My pre-K daughter knows the days of the week, all of the planets, how to take care of her space, and how to be kind to others. My young son comes home singing songs he learned at circle and can do buttons. He dresses himself including his shoes each day. I HIGHLY recommend Blue Ridge Montessori School!!!
