Mission Statement New Hope School strives for academic excellence while teaching God-centered universal values and service to others as the basis for personal integrity, harmony in the family and peace in the world.
The School Day All grades begin the day with inspirational readings from various scriptural, historical and cultural sources to help our students gain a deeper understanding of their own identity and value.
The importance of moral and ethical principles are stressed as a foundation for healthy character development.
In addition to its academic program, the school places great emphasis on its character education program, which promotes the themes of " Respect, Responsibility and Service." Throughout the school year, in regular classes and special sessions, students are instructed in timeless virtues, such as honesty, fairness and compassion, and are encouraged to participate in service projects for the community.
Portrait of the Graduate Upon graduating from New Hope School, our goal is that students will 1) demonstrate academic excellence and a sense of personal integrity; 2) live a life of respect and consideration for others; and 3) practice living in service to others and desire to make a positive contribution to the greater community and world.

School Notes

  • New Hope School's curriculum is based upon teacher-lead classroom lessons with encouragement for individual study and creativity. Intermingling of age groups is common with the older children helping the younger ones. Our student-teacher ratio is 8 to 1, allowing for a great deal of interaction between students and their teacher and personal attention. It also enhances the nurturing and supportive atmosphere that the school seeks to provide. New Hope School meets or exceeds the New Jersey State Core Curriculum Content Standards. Every year our students consistently score well above the national and state average on the Terra Nova Standardized Test, which is administered to all students. Academic program New Hope School, in conjunction with the Core Knowledge Foundation, employs a curriculum whose rich and coherent content benefits our students as they proceed from grade-to-grade. This curriculum provides access to the best knowledge available in all the major subjects, including the arts, that encourages students’ steady academic progress as they build their knowledge and skills year-to-year. We seek to channel our students to the best classroom situation to meet their needs. Fast learners are allowed to advance to higher grade levels in those subjects in which they are capable. Slower learners or special needs students are able to receive more attention from their teachers. We also offer an after school tutoring program in which older students help the younger ones with their school work. TERRA NOVA SCORES UP! New Hope School, a Friend of Core Knowledge school, saw its Terra Nova standardized test scores increase this past school year for the second year in a row, a result of implementing the Core Knowledge curriculum. On average our students scored in the 80-90 percentile, where 50 represents the national average. Core Knowledge provides a sequential and comprehensive curriculum that challenges students to develop both their intellect and their character. The teachers themselves find the material stimulating as they prepared their lessons and used it in their classrooms. We look forward to even greater development this year as we continue using the Core Knowledge curriculum.

One day as I picked up my first grader from New Hope School, I was touched by the sight of a much older student guiding her in how to skillfully kick a soccer ball. This interaction is one of the strengths in which a smaller school population excels. In addition to the cross grade camaraderie and nurturing, I have felt that my daughter is a priority for every teacher she is with during the school day. At the New Hope School, I have found that care is taken to promote and encourage a childâ's inner strengths through their character education, while providing the scaffolding necessary to help the child meet academic milestones. New Hope School has been a gift to my daughter as she has been given the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and most importantly spiritually.

Great school with a safe environment, small class sizes, a challenging curriculum and experienced teachers. My child went all the way through from first grade and is now in honors classes in high school. New Hope School gave him a great preparation.
