Middlefield Children's Center is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and stable environment for young children and their families.
We provide a nurturing setting that encourages children to learn through hands-on, interactive exploration. Learning through play provides a child-centered, teacher-guided curriculum in which children are encouraged to construct their own knowledge.
We recognize and respect that each child is special and unique and learns in different ways.
By providing open-ended explorations and encouraging wonder and curiosity, we hope to not only prepare children for kindergarten but to develop a passion for learning.

MCC is a delightful play based preschool. We love the regular field trips to the local library and nature walks and hearing which centers our son chooses to play in each day. In addition to developmentally appropriate crafts, there are literacy based activities that the children simply think of as games. We were so delightfully surprised when all of a sudden our son started writing the letters of his name!

We love Middlefield Children's Center! A friend told us about the preschool , as we live in Middletown, and we couldn't be happier finding this gem. The suburban/rural setting is great for outdoor walks or they have an amazing playground that even has a little garden. The classrooms are small, so the children get to know each other well, and have a lot of time with the teachers. All of the staff is very engaged and helpful, and our teacher and director have checked in with us often to help our son with the transition of starting school, and with a new baby in the house! We enrolled in the co-op option, which makes us feel even more engaged with other parents and staff. The focus on learning through play is right up our alley; our son is very excited to be with his friends, and learns so much without even realizing it. I can't recommend MCC enough!

I could not have chosen a better place for my children to be. My son is a preschooler and can`t wait to go to school every day! The teachers are warm and welcoming. My daughter attends before and after school and she loves it. The activities that they have for the children are developmentally appropriate and fun. They both love going outside to play in the awesome playground area. There are many fun things for all ages to do out there. MCC offers a co-op or a non co-op to fit your families needs. I feel blessed that my children and I are part of the Middlefield Children`s Center family!

Our daughter has been attending Middlefield Children`s Center for six months and has loved every second of it. The teachers are all very warm and nurturing, and really focus on each child`s well-being. Our daughter loves to come home and show us all the things that she has learned and discovered each day. She gets to creatively explore the world around her, both in the classroom and outdoors. She enjoys the monthly visits to the library and the times when the librarian comes to visit them. Choosing to be a member of the MCC family is the best decision we made for our daughter!

My daughter has had a very successful experience at MCC. The teachers are outwardly loving and patient, helping to ease my child into a new schedule, especially when there were tentative drop-offs at the beginning. Now she rambles on and on about the library visits, the projects, the nature walks, interactive centers, the ever-evolving playground, and much more! Play-based learning is so important at this age, and my child is blossoming as a creative, independent thinker. It means a lot to have my child feel this way about school, and as a mom, it gives me a secure feeling during the day - also so important!

My 6 year old has attended and my 4 year old is currently enrolled. This preschool provides a nurturing environment and curriculum unique to each child. They have many schedule options available which has been very helpful for us. There is a summer camp available that my kids have attended for the past 3 years and they always ask to go back. We have been really pleased with MCC.

My husband and I could not be more pleased with The Middlefield Children`s Center. They are a compassionate and understanding staff that really takes the time to make sure our kids are having their best day. We love how the kids are given opportunities to explore their natural surroundings and use their imagination to be creative. We chose the co-op program and we like how we get to be a part of the MCC family. We are extremely pleased with this program and highly recommend it!

We are so happy with our decision to send our son to Middlefield Childrens Center! The staff is extremely friendly and treat our son as if he were their own. Our first experience was with the Summer program which was extremely fun for our outdoorsy 3 and a 1/2 year old. They spent most of each day taking nature hikes and playing in the sprinkler and on the playground. When we transitioned into the preschool program in the fall the days became more structured with times for reading, playing and arts and crafts. I love their monthly trips next door to the town library and across the street to the fire house. Even in the cold weather they still take the time to bundle up and go outside for a quick walk to get the blood flowing! Best decision we could have made and with the co-op opportunity it makes it by far the least expensive preschool program in the area!

"I am so glad my son is a part of the Middlefield Children`s Center family! MCC has a nurturing, child-centered approach to learning. The children are encouraged to think and experiment throughout the day, both within their classrooms and in their amazing outdoor space- filled with plants, blocks, tires, sand, and nature walks. The school takes walking field trips to the local library, firehouse, and senior citizen center. There is a choice for parents to be involved- with a co-op or non-co-op program to suit every family`s needs. We are so glad we chose MCC and have been having such a great experience! "

We love Middlefield Children's Center! My daughter attends four days a week and asks me to go the fifth day. I love that they encourage the kids to learn as they play. My daughter gets so excited to bring home her Weekly Reader and show me what they are working on this week - she gets a sticker when she completes and returns it. I love that MCC encourages outdoor time almost every day, including playing on their playground, with the mud kitchen and the nature walks they take. MCC is right near the library, the senior center and the fire department and the director/teachers make sure that those facilities are incorporated into the learning plan. Joining the MCC family is one of the best decisions I have made to enrich my kids learning!

My 4 yr old son has attended this preschool for 6 months now and we are so happy with the care that he has received under the new management. We moved him from another preschool because his behavior had deteriorated and we were concerned that their manner of handling discipline was very negative and was actually compounding the problem. My son is in Ms. Jill`s class and she is wonderful! The way in which she handles situations where my son or other children are misbehaving is worlds apart from our previous experience, she is firm but kind and approaches the children from a standpoint of positivity and kindness which I believe allows the kids to thrive. She is extremely committed to the children`s intellectual, emotional and interpersonal development and seems to have excellent knowledge of the research as to how best to approach each of these issues. She encourages appropriate risk-taking which is so rare for educational facilities these days.My son is always happy when I drop him off and equally so when I pick him up, which is such a relief. My 8-year old daughter also attends intermittently for after school care and is SO much happier there than in the previous after school care which we used. Overall we would very much recommend Middlefield Children`s Center!
