Magothy Cooperative Preschool Photo #7 - The friendships are priceless!

Magothy Cooperative Preschool

Magothy Cooperative Preschool has been operating since 1974 as a non-profit, parent operated cooperative preschool.
The classroom and grounds are located adjacent to the historic site of the oldest Methodist Church in Maryland.
The preschool is certified through the Maryland Department of Education as a non-public school and as an early childhood development center.
Magothy Cooperative Preschool is a certified Maryland Green School through MAEOE. Magothy Cooperative Preschool seeks to provide our students a stimulating child-directed environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, self-expression & socialization. The result is a nurtured well-rounded and independent child who has enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude towards themselves and the world around them.
We integrate environmental education into all of our subjects and promote interaction with the natural world as part of our curriculum and operation.
A preschool program is your child`s first step into the academic world. Our school is an excellent bridge between home and elementary school since your child is learning with their parents` involvement. Subsequently, the cooperative is an excellent way to overcome separation anxiety for both the child and parent. Your child will have the opportunity to express themselves through art, music and academics as they explore our two spacious classrooms with various independent learning centers. As a cooperative school, parents work with the teacher and teacher assistant, guiding their children, watching them grow socially and academically. By helping in the classroom, our parents know their child is getting the best of both worlds-family and school. Students at Magothy Cooperative Preschool benefit from caring, like-minded parents, who share in their learning and growth. With such an important common cause, the adults form lifelong friendships right along side their children. Leaders are made here of both children and parents. Magothy Cooperative offers two year old, two/three year old, three year old, three/four year old and PreK classes.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at this gem of a preschool. All of our kids have loved every second of their time and Magothy. The teachers are simply amazing and my kids were so well prepared for kindergarten. I cannot imagine sending my kids to any other preschool and feel so fortunate to be a part of this community!

This is our third year at Magothy, and I''ll be so sad next year when we are done. My oldest was well prepared here for kindergarten, and is thriving. She's starting to read while her kindergarten homework is still working on their letters! My youngest is in one of the 3yo classes and adores it. But honestly, I feel this school was better for ME than for them. We moved to the area and I knew no one. Magothy has brought me into a fantastic community of like-minded moms who I have really enjoyed getting to know. I love that I get to work in the classroom and that we really know the parents, the teachers, and the director. I can understand that some moms don't have the time to dedicate to a co-operative school, but if you can, it's great! In addition, when we have children who have a harder time adjusting to a preschool routine, I have watched Magothy work hard with the parents and children to help their kids. The teachers truly love their job, and it shows every time we are there.

My daughter and son are both students at Magothy, and are beyond excited and thrilled each day they go to school. Magothy offers a great deal towards all of the families and students, encouraging community building, parent education, monthly enrichment trips for the students and additional things for the students such as Music Together and Magothy also introduced yoga. Magothy offers so much to it's students and parents, it's a wonderful experience for children.

Our son was diagnosed on the autism spectrum right before transitioning him into the 4yr old program. The teachers and director at Magothy worked closely with me to make sure my son had a great start to his school year and educated themselves on his diagnosis. When the county occupational therapist came to review my son's progress she had nothing but positive things to say about Magothy's curriculum and how well the teachers adapt to each of the student's needs so easily. I highly recommend Magothy for anyone who is looking for a great preschool and a wonderful community of parents and teachers. Our younger child will be enrolled as soon as he's 2.
