Elmwood Day School has been providing excellent early childhood education to Lower Westchester since 1957.
We strive to create an environment that allows each child to feel safe, known, comfortable, and accepted.
We offer programs for children ages 2 through First Grade, including a Transitional Fives program.
Enrichment classes are built into the week, depending on the child's schedule.
After school clubs allow 4s and older to extend their day while deepening their interests and exploring new ones.
Our integrated curriculum, based on New York State standards, fosters abstract and concrete thinking skills.
A balance of spontaneous play, teacher-directed, and child-initiated activities help children develop a strong awareness of themselves and the world around them.

We have had a wonderful experience at Elmwood and would do it all over again without a doubt. Our daughter began attending Elmwood halfway through the 3's school year. All staff was friendly and accommodating. They ran a wonderful virtual program during the beginning of the pandemic and have offered nothing but absolute dedication to the safety, emotional, physical and academic well being of the Elmwood children. Our daughter will remain at Elmwood for first grade and we are thrilled. We could not recommend a better place for your child's most instrumental years of development. Thank you Elmwood

This school is excellent. They are very creative and caring - they are play based, and yet most kids excel academically. It's because they sneak the learning in... Jane is the Director and caring but also a "nerd" about early childhood education. She is a fantastic resource and you can tell that she thrives on learning more and providing an excellent start to school. This school is excellent but not fancy. They have their own songs and a very sweet culture that includes everyone. We love it at Elmwood.
