St. John The Baptist Catholic Montessori School

We are an authentic Catholic school that provides an authentic Montessori education.
In 2016-2017 we transitioned from a traditional Catholic school to a Catholic Montessori school, with almost an entirely new staff and Montessori-trained teachers. SJB is now full of highly-committed and mission-driven faculty and staff. With the transition, we became a new school rooted in a rich tradition.
Additionally, we have cultivated a strong, tightly-knit parent community.
Guided by our Catholic faith, SJB Catholic Montessori School prepares students to live out the Gospel message, achieve academic excellence, and joyfully lead by faith and reason.

SJB Catholic Montessori is exactly what we were looking for in a private school. Our children continue to thrive academically and spiritually in the SJB Montessori environment. We cannot express how grateful we are to the staff and families of SJB. While on vacation in FL one of our kiddos complained that he missed being at school. The school fosters a genuine love for learning in the students. SJB is truly a gift to our family and the community!

This is a very special school. I have 2 children enrolled here and the the guide and asst. guide in their classroom are simply amazing. They are fully in tune with developing each child as a whole person. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, which is the faith formation is also incredible. My children are learning so much about the Lord and their faith. I cannot say enough about all of the wonderful aspects of this school. It is truly a special place!

We are so happy that we just happened upon St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School. We were looking for a Catholic preschool and we didn't know much about Montessori Education. I'm so thankful we came in for a tour! We're definitely staying here for much longer than just her preschool years, as they have a top-notch elementary and middle school program as well! This is our second year at St. John's. When we had parent/teacher conferences this fall, I was so impressed by how much the Guide knew my daughter! And she offered me wonderful suggestions of things to practice at home. I know my daughter is well taken care of and known by the staff at St. John`s School. If you are looking for a school that will reinforce your values, see the dignity in each child, educate in a way that makes learning fun, and teach your child based around their interests and abilities then St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School is where you should be!

My husband and I absolutely Love this Catholic Montessori School! We have 4 of our 5 children enrolled and feel very blessed to be a part of this community. This school continues to challenge our children and supports them to be who God is calling them to be. There's opportunity to encounter the Lord through the Guides/Staff and the family community. Strongly recommend to observe this school if you are discerning where God is calling you to send your child(ren) to school. A hidden gem!

SJB provides the best faith filled Montessori program in the area. The teachers are so kind and my children love seeing them daily. My children are comfortable in their environment and they are thriving in their academics. I can't recommend this school enough. The school is small and I appreciate the individualized attention my kids get from their teachers. My kids are learning life work besides just academics. I enjoy seeing my children make their own meals if they feel like doing so. They are learning on how to be independent, they are learning manners, the catholic faith, and how to be kind to one another. Their relationship with their classmates is something to behold. I have never seen a group of children so kind and warm toward each other who really care about each other and teach other in the classroom. This school is just amazing.

I`m so thankful I found St Johns. This school is everything and more for my family. From the beautiful open classrooms, lake front location, staff, security and community. I feel blessed everyday. The safety factor was huge for when choosing a school. The security system, and even how the playgrounds are not seen from the road make me feel so comfortable leaving my children to learn and play. The Montessori method has proven to develop my children in all areas of their life. They are truly flourishing. There hasn`t been one day when my kids don`t want to go to school. They say "yes!!!" When I tell them it`s a school day.

Our 2.5 year-old absolutely THRIVED in the Montessori Toddler Community.I was blown away by the professionalism and skill of the Toddler Guide and assistants, and the classroom space is honestly breathtaking, with its natural colors, window view of the lake and beautiful tot-sized and thoughtfully prepared materials. This current school year (it's second year as a NEW Montessori school), the school is just continuing to blossom. Some of my favorite things are the new parent gathering room (where I can get coffee and nurse my newborn), the amazing classical artwork throughout the hallways (its like a museum!), and the free family film nights (the kids have a blast with their friends while the parents chat and relax). What I am most grateful for, though, is the tight-knit community that is developing among the families. We celebrate each other`s new arrivals, make meals for one another and encourage each other in this often-challenging season of raising young children. SJB is such a gift!

This is such a special school! I was driving my son 45 minutes one way to a Catholic Montessori for two years so I was overjoyed when St John the Baptist Catholic Montessori opened in Excelsior. It is so much closer and my son has been loving it! He is sad on the weekends because he wants to go to school. The Guides and staff are so well prepared/educated, available and caring. I know I can talk to them about any concerns. I really love Montessori and this is Montessori done right. And it is genuinely Catholic to boot! My son has learned so much socially and emotionally as well as academically. Montessori really addresses the whole child, not just academics. And at the same time he can learn at his own pace and he gets lots of individualized attention which has really helped him to advance academically.I was so excited this school opened up just when we needed it and it goes from Toddler through 8th grade which is really wonderful because the Guides really have time to develop relationships with the children and the children with each other. I am so blessed to have found this unique school, my son couldn't be happier : )

My kids thrive in this school with the warm, caring teachers who challenge them. Becuse this school is small, the kids get the individualized attention. One has to see all of the technology this school has which is above and beyond the local public schools. St. Johns is very affordable. If you want the best for your child, you need to check this school out because the results are not just about the high test scores, but the performance of the graduates. Over 90% of the graduates have been on their respective high school's honor rolls. This is an amazing school!
