Spark Continuation School

Spark Elementary is founded on the neuroscientific principle of integrating creative arts and social emotional learning within every aspect of the academic curriculum.
The Spark approach to what we call Aesthetic Learning engages the child to shape a personal and meaningful vision that empowers a process of self and world discovery.
The Spark! curriculum is designed to expand the children's conceptions of what it means to be a creative thinker and to inspire them through their schoolwork to become conscious, curious and compassionate participants in their life, community and world.

Principal Marianne and everyone at Spark Elementary excellent people. My child is now four years studying here and we cannot imagine going anywhere else. They treat every child with love, respect and care. Spark Elementary has an environment which is very rare to find. They are excellent educators. I give them 5 stars.

People always ask me about the school that I work in and it`s hard to express how incredible and unique it is! Spark elementary is a BEYOND amazing learning environment. Not only is there individualized support since the classes are small, the students also learn all about how to be social/emotional beings at a young age and how to empathize in the world.

Spark Elementary is an outstanding school that focuses on the child`s mind, emotions, and academic knowledge. Mindfulness breaks each period help the students refocus before continuing onto the next class. Kids (and teachers) bounce into school with smiles, excited to start the day!

This is an amazing school for any type of learner! The teachers and staff are caring and comforting. The programs such as empathy training and mindfulness are helpful for every student. The academics are strong and always engaging. Plus, so much more. I strongly recommend Spark to any parent, especially the parents who believe their child needs more than public school can offer. I guarantee they will find what they are looking for here.

As a mom of a sensitive and easily distracted boy this school has simply been a blessing on every level. Based on kindness, neuro-diversity and developmentally appropriate learning, they really take each child's unique spark and feed it to burn brightly. They not only address academics engagingly, but also social-emotional learning and mindfulness. Their holistic approach is part of the curriculum and they are actually on top of current educational research and implement it (like no home-work!) I highly recommend this school.

Spark Elementary is a great place, to both to work, and to learn. Mindfulness is practiced here everyday. It is nice to see it being reinforced, for the students, the benefits of being a mindful person. We take mindful breaks, at the end of every academic period. This helps the children stay centered, and keep calm throughout the day. Another great aspect of Spark Elementary, is the fabulous literacy program. The students embrace reading, and are succeeding at reading. So many of our students, are rapidly progressing, and developing their reading skills. Spark is a beautiful and inspiring place to learn.

I have worked in many different school settings, and after working here I could never work elsewhere. There is nothing like Spark Elementary anywhere else on Long Island. The academics surpass NYS grade levels, the culture in the Spark community is bright and honest, and the kids are genuinely loved - for their strengths AND their weaknesses. This school is definitely sparking a change in the education system - more schools should follow their leaderships.

Spark Elementary has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for my child. The academics are through the roof and far surpassing that of New York State requirements. But the culture and the sense of community that runs through those halls are indescribable. Principal Marianne tackles each issue that arises as a learning experience for both students and staff. She understands that each child is different in everyway possible and understands that because of that, every problem needs to be handled differently. Students are treated with respect and never made to question their self worth. my child was struggling in public school. Not academically, but she was emotional, shy, and struggling in social situations. Now, she is soaring in all areas, which is what Spark is all about - education the WHOLE body of a child. Every time I have been in the school, I have never seen a child upset or afraid to be there. The teachers/staff know every student in the whole school by name and welcome them with hugs and excitement each morning. A few members of administration even has given out their personal email and cellphone number for parents to contact when school is not open, or at night because they understand that many things at home affect the child in school. I have contacted Ms. Mendes many times through out the night and weekends, and even school breaks and she has always responded promptly, even while she was on vacation!! I feel safe bringing my child to school each day knowing she is sage and loved in that building.

we found Spark Elementary when looking for pre-school for our child. From the 1st visit with our child, we knew this was the right place for us. We continue to be impressed with the individual attention every child receives and how the teachers and staff know the children so well. Their focus on literacy, citizenship, acceptance of diversity was very different than other schools we visited. Our child is a confident reader and learner. You never get the 1st 10 years back. Spark Elementary is providing a strong foundation for our daughter's education emotional growth. We have not regretted our decision for a second.

Our daughter has been at Spark Elementary (Kid Esteem Montessori) since pre-k. We have been impressed with every aspect of this school. Their progressive literacy program is beyond compare. Our child receives the attention she needs to grow in every way. We wanted a learning environment which allowed for creativity in instruction without the cloud of state mandated assessments. The teachers and staff have created a welcoming environment of kindness, compassion with a celebration of diversity. Since the day of our visit, we knew this was the best choice for our daughter.

Recently purchased MSL and it now called Kid Esteem Montessori School. My child attends school which is run by certified teachers and licensed creative arts therapists who promote social and emotional learning. Each child feels special as soon as they walk in the door. What a great school. We LOVE it... Please check it out. It is really worth the investment in your children development as student and as part of our community.
