I have been a parent at Southfield School for the past thirteen years. All four of my children began their Southfield journey of learning in the preschool program at the age of two. I could not have asked for or imagined a better or more loving environment for them to learn and grow through their elementary and middle school years. The small class sizes and the wonderful faculty allow them to learn and experience things in a way that is fun and ignites a joy of learning. Joy is indeed something that abounds on the Southfield campus. A stroll through the beautiful courtyard will have you surrounded by smiling children (and teachers) happily going about their day. I urge you to come by the school for a tour. You will be smiling too.

We have had an incredible experience from pre-school, to elementary and now middle school at Southfield. Our boys have truly developed a love for learning, and I love the fact that they get out of my car genuinely happy to go to school and they're still just as happy when I pick them up. I've enjoyed the cultural diversity of their friendships, the vast topics they learn about, and countless the opportunities to speak and perform in front of others. The school and library have helped them develop into avid readers, and now they don't get into the car without a book in their hand! They are encouraged to be themselves, dive into things that interest them, bring ideas to the table, and it all starts with the way the school cultivates a love for learning through play in their pre-school years.I used to laugh to myself when I would pick them up from school when they were little. I would ask them what they did at school that day they would say, "just played." I had volunteered enough and had gotten to know the teachers well enough that I knew it was so much more. But to them, they played all day. There was no pressure. It was all age-appropriate. It was everything they needed and they were thriving. I'd visited almost every other pre-school and kindergarten in town. I appreciated that at Southfield the child came first, not the arbitrary benchmarks. They were allowed to be creative, explore, go on adventures, and learn so much more through different experiences. The environment at Southfield School is just as nurturing now as it was in those younger years. But, I believe, it was that foundation of learning through play and through experiences that my boys have developed a healthy, thriving life in and out of school. I also can't fail to mention how incredible the faculty, staff and administration are at Southfield. They have a genuine love for the school and our children and it shines through all they do for our children and our families. I highly encourage you to take a tour of the school, let your child shadow for the day and fully experience the Southfield Way.

This is our first year at Southfield, and we could not be happier! The teachers have been warm and welcoming and clearly love their jobs. It shows in how they approach their students and the responsiveness we have gotten any time we have had a question or needed help with something. The Middle School Director and really all of the administration are phenomenal and have impressed us so much with their dedication to their students and to making Southfield a happy place to learn and grow. Our daughter has thrived in making friends, growing her love of reading, and joining extracurricular activities that would not be available elsewhere. Academically, she is doing better than ever and said herself that the learning environment is excellent - "the teachers make sure I understand everything before we move on". The school does everything with a degree of thoughtfulness and attention to detail that I have not seen elsewhere. The parents have been so helpful to us, and I already feel the strong sense of community at the school. I'm so overjoyed we are at Southfield and highly recommend our school!

I encourage you to take that first step on Southfield School's campus and you will feel it instantly! The pure joy of learning is seen and felt everywhere. Education is on the forefront in everything they do. Classroom sizes help aid in the teachers' ability to teach to each individual student and focus on their strengths and master their weaknesses. This fabulous school builds intelligent, kind, and well-rounded individuals.

I worked at Southfield School as a teacher and administrator for 9 years and I now serve on the board. When we moved back to Shreveport, our own children were too old to attend there, but my family members are grateful and supportive Southfield alums. In my long career as an educator, I have seen only one school which always, without fail, prioritizes students and their needs in each and every decision it makes-Southfield School. Developing a lifelong love of learning guides all curriculum development and implementation. The faculty and staff members are consummate professionals who are well-trained, mission-centered, and devoted to their students as they deliver an education that addresses needs of the whole child. The curriculum offers rigorous academic pursuit that incorporates experiential learning opportunities and co-curricular options which include performing and visual arts, foreign language, athletics, community involvement, and extensive parent partnerships. Southfield creates the happiest learning environment I've ever seen. In a 25 year career, which included work in four states, my opportunity to be part of Southfield School remains the most meaningful experience in my professional life. I can't recommend it more highly! My advice to families is always that they simply take a Southfield School tour before making a school decision for their children. It will be time well spent.

I have been a parent at Southfield School for 12 years. All 3 of my children have started with the Preschool 2 program and this year my oldest is in 8th grade. My children love going to school and truly love the school. They genuinely instill a lifelong love of learning. Every teacher and staff cares for the students and it's almost commonplace for them to go above and beyond for them! I must say I have tremendous trust in the administrators and teachers. They have proved themselves over and over again to have the benefit of the children in the forefront!! My 8th grader is ready to spread his wings in high school next year and I know he is beyond prepared but I love that he wishes Southfield had a high school so he didn't have to leave. The amount of alumni who continue to contribute to the school and have their children come to school here too speaks volumes. Taking a tour and seeing the school in action will let you see firsthand what we are all about! You will not be disappointed.

This is my nineteenth consecutive year at Southfield. Every year at this wonderful school has been a blessing to our family. Each morning my youngest child is greeted by name with a warm smile as she gets out of the car. Witnessing her skip to class assures me that she is happy, confident, and at ease. The caring and qualified teachers engage your child in ways that suit their individual learning styles. Faculty members know every student and work together to assure the needs of the individual are met. The academics are excellent. My oldest was prepared for high school and graduated as an AP scholar with a 4.0 GPA. He is off to medical school in the fall. Southfield's teachers and environment instilled confidence in him and set a strong foundation for a desire to learn. My middle child says her happiest years were at Southfield. She made best friends at Southfield that she keeps in daily contact with, despite each one attending college in a different state. All in all, Southfield is a wonderful place to learn, grow, make friends, and develop a "lifelong love of learning". Come see for yourself!

Our relatively small city is lucky to have a school of this caliber. As both alumni and now a parent of 3 at Southfield, I can't be happier with the environment and education level given when I was there and even more so now to my children. Southfield provides children with a learning experience like nowhere else. The kids love being there and love learning due to the culture the school has built. Southfield also offers a wide range of "extra help". My son has reading troubles and dyslexia. He can work with a one-on-one reading specialist in a way not offered in anywhere in this area. Not only is this greatly helping his dyslexia and reading challenges but it is helping his self-esteem in the classroom and his ability to keep up with the course work. The school has the best group of teachers anyone could imagine. Highly educated themselves, but more importantly, very well experienced. Most of the teachers have 10-20+ years of education experience. If you are new to the Shreveport/Bossier area or have been here your whole life, do yourself and more so, your children a favor and take a tour of Southfield. It is a decision you will not regret. It will be one of the best investments you can make in your child's future.

Southfield School has a special place in my heart! After home-schooling during the quarantine in kindergarten 2020, my son was having a lot of trouble reading. His first-grade teacher recommended him for a pull-out reading program and those ladies were amazing!! Now in second grade, he`s reading at or above grade level and his confidence is back! If your child is having any reading or learning issues this is the place you need to enroll.!!

We have been at Southfield for 7 years and all 3 of our kids attend. Southfield is such an amazing school. They go above and beyond to immerse your kids in the lessons. They come home every day excited to share what they have learned. They also have the best teachers and administrators. You can really tell how invested they are in your child`s education. Southfield doesn`t just teach your kids, they inspire and show them how to be leaders as well. I highly recommend you stop in for a tour!

I have experienced Southfield School as a student, parent, and board member. This means I have personally experienced the school from every angle except TEACHER. However, my wife was a teacher for many years, so I can confidently say that - as a family - Southfield School has been thoroughly vetted...The result? Pure EXCELLENCE. There is, hands down, no better school in the city, Parish, region - likely even in the country and I'd like to say in the world. It begins with that first day. I still remember it vividly. I may have been more nervous than my son as my wife and I brought him into his first day of preschool. Of course every child reacts differently, but he was immediately enthralled with the dinosaur/fossil exhibit he found straight away and never looked back. Fast forward nearly 10 years and many grades and teachers, and he has thrived - as has my daughter. Two very different personalities, both of which were met right where they are, by every teacher they have encountered all the way through. Seeing an otherwise shy, introvert willingly take the stage MULTIPLE times to perform in front of his peers and a crowd of parents is reason enough all by itself (let's face it, there may not be a single career path the doesn't require you to be comfortable talking in front of a group of people at some point). Then contrast this with my daughter, who is comfortable in front of ANYONE, and all that Mrs. Davis (music teacher - who taught ME, by the way) and Mrs. Courtney (drama teacher) have done to encourage her and "refine" her rather enthusiastic spirit, and you have, well - as close to a perfect setting for children to succeed in school that I've ever encountered. To put it the way I've heard many kids who are Southfield alums put it (in reference to how much fun they have): "It's like you're learning and you don't even know it."We truly are "developing a lifelong love of learning" for every different type of child, every day. And it still gives me goosebumps to see it happening. There is not a SINGLE SHRED OF DOUBT in my mind that my children will go on to be successful in high school, college and ultimately whatever career field they choose, because of the foundation built in them by the amazing teachers, staff, peers - just EVERYONE - at Southfield School!!! We are so very blessed to be part of the Southfield family, and I encourage ANYONE to just come visit to see it for yourself. It is truly magical. No seriously. you need to schedule a tour.Right now.

A truly wonderful school! Both of my children attend Southfield Middle School, and we LOVE it here! The teachers are attentive to the students' academic and emotional needs. The kids are greeted with smiles and hugs when they enter the halls and classrooms. My girls have had countless opportunities to try out and succeed in several academic and extra-curricular activities (cheerleading, science fair, musicals, talent show, Artbreak, Geography Bee, and many more). My oldest speaks French for FUN after only nine weeks of lessons! We are blessed to be a part of this school and encourage everyone to experience Southfield School and discover how it can inspire your child/children, too.

Absolute best program ever! Very good theatre and arts program that helped my daughter come out of her shell. The class sizes are small to help your child learn more. My daughter went from being behind in math and science to excelling in school and making straight A's. They teach advanced material but they can individualize it more to help their students learn the material. Best decision we ever made!

Absolutely the BEST school in Shreveport/Bossier City. I encourage you to find another warm and caring environment for your child in grades PS2 - 8th grade that not only challenges your child but provides them with the encouragement to succeed and be confident in themselves. All of my children are attending Southfield and I would recommend this amazing school to anyone! Take a tour...you will not be disappointed!
