Overview
You've discovered a one-of-a-kind independent school for students age 4 through grade 8. We are a progressive and rigorous school that empowers children to explore, discover, and grow - in many ways, not just academically. We believe children learn best in an inclusive, creative, and nurturing environment that engages the whole child. The magic of Burgundy comes from 4 parts: campus, curriculum, culture, and community.
The curriculum is hands-on and integrated for all our students with strong emphasis on social-emotional growth and development.
Burgundy students enjoy two amazing campuses - our main campus is Alexandria and a wildlife campus in West Virginia.
Both campuses provides students with exposure to nature and the natural world. Our curriculum grows out of and often takes inspiration from these incredible natural resources.
Browne Academy is committed to the preschool-8th grade experience and the academic, social and emotional foundation it provides our students.
We deliberately focus our attention and resources to the years of childhood and early adolescence, giving time for students to mature and tap into their abilities while preserving their childlike sense of joy, wonder and curiosity. The continuity of teachers, classmates, programs and expectations provides a safe and nurturing learning environment, where children and young adolescents feel safe taking risks, developing leadership skills and exploring new possibilities.
