If you`re looking for an affordable private school that will nurture your whole child, look no further! We checked out multiple schools in RVA and found everything we wanted for our child at Our Lady of Lourdes (and P.S. we are not Catholic but appreciate the morals and values that are instilled through a Catholic education). OLL is a special place that offers a top-tier education and emphasizes character development. The teachers are kind, creative, communicative, and age-appropriately rigorous. The school also has incredible support staff (a social worker, a full-time nurse, math and reading specialist). The principal is hands-on, positive, and supportive. Parents are involved and volunteer at a variety of events, so it`s easy to connect and build community. I couldn`t be happier with our choice to send our daughter here! She is THRIVING both socially and academically, and her teachers have been instrumental in helping her build confidence and self-discipline. I 10/10 recommend OLL!

I could go on forever explaining in great detail how amazing and such a blessing this school has been for our us and our sons. However, in summary, we went through three previous schools to get our son into the right environment public/private, it is hard to make those transitions especially with transitioning out of the military, moving into a new house, starting a new career, and wanting the best for your children. We have finally found it here. God works in mysterious ways and there is always light in the darkest of times. Our oldest who is a 3rd grader before switching from another private school was told he wouldn`t be able to progress, he would have to be retained in the 2nd grade, and was even assumed to have a learning disability. A child with ADHD or any special accommodations needs support, consistency, and most importantly positive reinforcement with love. An environment of empathy, and compassion, due to this school and its amazing staff, the principal, the school social worker, and the loving, positive, accommodating, proactive, and supportive environment OLL has provided us from day one has not only re-instilled our trust in educators, it has built deep trust and self-esteem in our sons. He is thriving, happy to be in school, and has ALL As and Bs as of current and even received the courage award! He is talking about trying hard to obtain second honors. We have seen a complete change in his behaviors, and academics, and is showing the world that he can defy and go against what was assumed of him and what others believed he could not achieve. A true educator meets the child where they are and gets them where they are meant to be. They do not give up on them or push them off to the side because they are perceived as "too difficult", or not fitting into their "expectations" or attempting to find what`s wrong with the child instead of what`s wrong with their approach. Children are all different, and that requires different approaches and that is what you will find here! OLL has become our family and community. We fully support, you and would do whatever we need and can do, to show our appreciation. To love my children as their own, and reach them respectfully, and safely has my heart forever. I have the deepest respect for the staff and Dr. Jacobsen. Our sons love the school, love the staff, and love the community. Brings tears to my eyes to know we have finally found our home. Truly grateful. THANK YOU OLL!!

We were at another private elementary/middle school and switched to OLL for middle school. We were so glad we did. The community here is welcoming, loving and supportive of all different types of kids and families. They were much more inclusive than I assumed they would be being Catholic. The teachers go above and beyond and their school social worker is excellent is facilitating solutions to individual student learning challenges. We are so glad we made the switch and found this gem of a school for our kids and family.
