School Notes

  • Notre Dame Academy was founded as a regional school in 2004 when Sts. Denis, Helen, (now merged to form Mary Queen of Peace Church) and Lawrence Schools joined to form one large, regional school. The school is located in Southwest Louisville on St. Lawrence Church property. The school provides a Christ-centered education for students in grades pre-school through eighth grade. We have a diverse population with approximately 12% African American students, the highest in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Approximately 88% of our students are Catholic.
  • The faculty and staff include 29 teachers, 13 paraprofessionals, a counselor, 3 office staff, cafeteria and custodial staff. Included in the number of teachers are two Learning Resource teachers who collaborate with the classroom teachers to meet the needs of our students with learning differences. The administrative team consists of the Principal, Assistant Principal, Bookkeeper and Recruitment/Development Director.
  • We serve a population who are generally employed in service lines of work: police, fire, health services, and skilled workers. They see the value in education as a way to better your career opportunities and your future.
  • Notre Dame is funded through tuition and a covenant with our founding parishes. Many of our families qualify for financial assistance from the Catholic Education Foundation, an Archdiocese of Louisville program that supports area schools and various programs throughout the Archdiocese of Louisville. Qualifying parents may receive tuition funds through local, private groups. Our school also provides additional funds for tuition assistance.
  • There are no fundraising programs in our annual budget. Minimal fundraising events support special projects and purchases and for the most part are participation fundraisers, not selling of products. We raise approximately $15,000 annually for our technology program through parent/grandparent/friend participation in a grocery shopping program.
  • The greatest challenges facing our school the past three years has been controlling tuition costs while continuing to offer a quality education. Notre Dame Academy has been fortunate to operate under a balanced budget and with no debt. This has allowed us to keep tuition increases to a minimal 2-3% increase each year.
