School Notes

  • My School`s philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach. Reggio-Inspired curriculum is flexible and emerges from children`s ideas, thoughts, and observations. Our goal is to cultivate within children a lifelong passion for learning, a strong sense of self, and the ability to problem solve- both academically & socially.
  • My School also has a strong arts focus and believes art is one of the many languages through which meaningful learning takes place. Our school has it's own Art Studio space, or Atelier. Children from each classroom visit this space on a weekly basis and work with theArt Studio teacherexploring various art concepts.

We would definitely recommend My School to other families. They follow a Reggio-Emilia-inspired philosophy where a child's interests spark ideas for exploration with the teachers nurturing and guiding those interests. When we took a tour we immediately felt a warm and caring environment. I took the time to speak to some teachers and asked about their personal experiences and they all said they love it there. That was important for us. Pros:- Teachers and Staff: Everyone has been friendly and dedicated. They are passionate about their jobs and it shows in their care for the children - Communication: We've appreciated the transparency and consistency. We feel informed about what is happening in the classroom and school. When we have questions, they are always answered in a timely manner- Program: Reggio-Emilia inspired where the child's interest navigates areas of inquiry. They focus on art, creativity, and exploration. We also love how much outdoor time our child gets. - Environment: Clean, organized, and welcoming. They have created a space to facilitate a fun and comfortable learning space. Their outdoor play area is well maintained and promotes gross motor skills and imaginative play. - Scheduling: We like how they have different price breakdowns based on needs. They have different price points for families starting at 7:30a and families starting at 9a and the same for pick-up times. Cons- Parking: can be an issue at times. There is a main road to cross if you park on the opposite side, but people often stop so you can safely cross- Scheduling: we personally wish they had the option of a half-day that included lunch, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us. Overall, we've been very satisfied with My School and so has our child. We would highly recommend sending your child there. Book a tour and get a feel for yourself!

My kids have been at My School for three years. We looked at a lot of preschool options and knew immediately when we visited My School that it was a special place. From cozy reading corners to art studio, every space is thoughtfully designed to engage the kids in imaginative play and hands-on exploration and it's evident that the teachers genuinely care and are dedicated to the kids. They do a really good job with communication and with organizing special activities and events (i.e. Halloween parade, farm field trips, spring fling, art show, outings to the local coffee shop). Arguably more important than academics, I feel that they help to prepare my kids with social and emotional skills to navigate the world with kindness and confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend My School to any parent seeking an amazing preschool experience.

My School has been a blessing for our family, as both our children have attended this extraordinary school. The faculty and staff are exceptional. They've built an incredibly warm, supportive atmosphere that encourages curiosity and a love for learning. One standout is the personalized approach to education. Teachers understand each child's unique strengths, fostering a sense of belonging and boosting confidence. Our children have gained a strong foundation in essential skills and a genuine love for learning. Additionally, their communication is excellent, with many daily and weekly updates, conferences, and events fostering active parental involvement. Our only complaint is that they're not k-12!

Our daughter is in her second year at My School and is thriving! No arguing about not wanting to go to school, she cannot wait to go because it is so much fun. They bring fun to learning and the kids love it. Our daughter is taking piano lessons at school and is one of her favorite things. She was not interested in arts/crafts but My School teachers have opened a whole new world for her and brought out her creative side. She is doing great with starting to read. Sending her to My School is one of the best decisions we have made. Thank you My School of you are amazing!

The moment we toured My School we knew this was going to be a wonderful school for our two girls. We started our girls- aged 4 and 5 at my school in September 2023. We were all a little nervous about the transition to a new school but the teachers and staff were absolutely amazing- both patient and kind during any difficult times. Both of our girls are doing well, they absolutely love the art studio and our oldest is enjoying the piano lessons that are offered. We especially love the amount of fresh air and outdoor play and exploring they get to do every day. All the teachers and staff have been easy to work with, super responsive and genuinely care for all the kids. We look forward to enrolling in the summer programs and next year. Highly recommend without any reservations!

We enrolled our 4-year-old daughter this year for a Pre-K experience before Kindergarten and we are so happy we did! She's thriving! She loves going to school each day and has grown leaps and bounds in her social/emotional development. The play-based learning model has inspired her own curiosity that she carries into personal projects at home involving writing, making things, and all sorts of creative endeavors indoors and out. Her teachers are kind and caring, creating a warm environment that is challenging and stimulating as well. I'm so pleased with her progress in every area that we've decided to stay for Kindergarten!

This is our daughter's first year at my school in the youngest classroom and we could not be happier. Her growth and development has skyrocketed. She is so curious about the world now, and she can even write her name!!! The teachers and staff at my school are dedicated to ensuring that each and every child is an upstanding citizen learning how to be a great friend, how to care for themselves, and how to look at the world with joy and curiosity. We can't wait to continue on!

My son is in the middle of his 4th year at My School in the K-2 class and our experience has been fantastic the entire time. When we started looking at schools I toured 3 and by far and away My School was the clear winner. The environment is very home-like and comfortable, the teachers are all warm and kind and the kids spend a lot of time outdoors. They do a lot of art which I love and the kids learn through experience. Right now my son's class is learning about ramps and trajectories by building different marble runs out of blocks. They are also eating their way through the alphabet and being exposed to new foods they wouldn't otherwise try. There is a wonderful art show every year which showcases their work throughout the year and the teachers put a book together of their work at the end of each year which is a beautiful keepsake. Spring fling is another fun activity at the school at the end of the year. It's a little carnival where the kids can play different games and each class sings songs on the stage during an adorable concert. A favorite thing that happens every year is the Halloween parade to city hall. My son was on the My School sponsored t-ball team 2 years in a row. We get school-wide newsletters from the school frequently as well as from the individual classes. They are amazing at documentation, we often see quotes from the day written on the whiteboard at pickup. Although I am sad that this is my son's last year at My School, I am so excited to start the journey again with my daughter in the fall! They will both be able to attend the awesome art and nature summer program this year which serves kids up to age 8 so I am really happy he can show her the ropes before she starts in September!

The minute we walked in the door for our tour, we knew My School was the only preschool we wanted for our daughter. The rooms are cozy and inviting, interesting but not cluttered, and the staff is warm and welcoming, yet professional. Over the past year and a half, first as an Appleseed student and currently as a Dragonfly student, our daughter has grown and blossomed. She says the weekly Art Studio session is her favorite part of school, and we have enjoyed witnessing her creativity develop through the exploration of the various art mediums available at My School. We also appreciate the strong nature focus of the curriculum. Our daughter often talks about the different plants, insects, and animals that her class has studied. Last, we are grateful for the compassionate and attentive way her teachers have guided our daughter's social and emotional development, and for their effective and timely communication with us about the classroom happenings.

We fell in love with my school after a few weeks with our oldest attending pre-school. Our oldest has been at My School for 4 years now & our youngest is finishing his second year in pre-K. The school atmosphere, teachers, and parents of my school are so wonderful. My kids are getting exactly what they need with learning through exploration.

We cannot say enough good things about school! Our son loves it and is thriving. He wishes he was there more! The teachers are warm, caring and compassionate while still providing an environment full of learning. The Reggio philosophy has fostered so much creativity in our son, and we are looking forward to sending our other child when he is old enough.

My School has been a wonderful experience for our 4-year-old son. It is a small and intimate atmosphere that fosters socialization, then learning. Lots of a play based learning through hands on activity (sitting or standing) through art and music. They also get lots of time outside. The teachers understand that all children are at various places with their learning and socialization and are realistic in their approach to fulfill the needs of the individual child. There is a lot going on at My School but at a very calm and peaceful pace. We will certainly be sending out 2-year-old as soon as she is ready.

We started sending our daughter after a year at a Montessori school and are glad we did. She loves going every day and has grown so much in the short time she's been at My School. It's a true family environment that is safe with great teachers and administrators. We can't recommend it enough.

We are back at My School this year with our son, who is a four-year-old in the Dragonfly classroom. Our daughter was at My School as a Dragonfly during the 2014-2015 school year, and we had a fantastic experience. We love the strong connection with nature and how the curriculum is so emergent and child-centered. The classes rotate in the Art Studio where they participate in an incredible variety of art, experimenting with many mediums and styles. The promotion of independence at My School is wonderful and so helpful! My son learned to zip his own coat and get himself ready to play in the snow. The children spend a lot of time outdoors and their outdoor time is also learning time. The classroom environment is set up to encourage the children up to feel empowered, successful, and independent. My school is different than other schools and definitely stands out. The staff are caring and committed. These are individuals who truly care for children and families. We love it here!

Our family has all great things to say about my school! My oldest attended a few years ago, and my second son is currently enrolled. Although they have very different strengths and challenges, they both thrive at My School. The environment created by the teachers and staff is one of warmth and safety. I have always felt like the teachers really enjoy my children, which means a lot as a parent, and are also very skilled at equipping and teaching the kids. One of our family's favorite things about my school is the art studio that is central in the school. The combination of direction and freedom to create and explore is such a special part of the experience at My School. We are excited about our daughter to start at my school next year!

We are a new family at My School, with our first child in the Appleseed program. As a stay at home mom and past early childhood educator I was apprehensive about sending our son to school as a young 3-year-old. But I am happy to say that my school has exceeded all my expectations. The teachers are incredibly gifted at their craft; the curriculum is truly hands on and a play based, and the Reggio Emilia philosophy is followed beautifully. I would recommend this school to any parent looking for a safe and nurturing school environment for their children to grow.

We love My School! Both of my children have thrived in this environment. My older son was so prepared to enter Kindergarten. My younger son is learning important life skills along with typical school lessons. I also love that they have an art studio every week. It's wonderful for young children to experiment with art! We can't say enough wonderful things about the school and the fabulous staff there. Thank you for caring for my children so well!
