Midtown International School Highlights
So what happens in a school designed for such curious, globally-minded learners?
NO ONE WAITS TO LEARN
- Problem Based Learning - MIS students use research, inquiry, and collaboration to design and evaluate solutions to open-ended global problems with no easy answers. Students tackle the world's challenges: debating censorship, drafing constitutions for imaginary countries, addressing erosion issues on campus with Trees Atlanta, and much more. Classes of 12 students (maximum class size) create a learning environment where everyone is challenged and supported.
- Collaboration - Our students dream big and accomplish feats beyond their years. They work together toward goals none of them could accomplish alone, learning the value of teamwork, and understanding when - and when not - to take the lead.
- MIS Mindset - Surrounded by their cognitive peers and equally curious teachers, the MIS student realizes that learning isn't confined to a school, but is a lifelong quest to make meaning, forge relationships, solve problems, and affect change. We firmly believe that intelligence is potential that can be cultivated, developed, and built upon every day. Growth mindset pervades the classroom experience for both students and teachers at MIS.

We have been at MIS since it opened, and my kids feel so lucky to be learning there. The classes are small so attention is individualized. The staff truly knows and cares about my children. My kids feel safe, respected, challenged, and cherished. And they get to go on independence-building, eye-opening, amazingly fun trips every year! It will be their only school until they graduate!

We came to MIS five years ago because of its pledge that "no one waits to learn." They've kept that commitment, working with us creatively to provide challenging courses for our gifted children. The teachers are exceptional and exceptionally committed to engaging gifted children. We love the diversity of the school and faculty, and we appreciate the support for social and emotional development as well as academics. We also love the opportunities for international travel that are back after being paused for covid. We hope the high school especially will keep growing, but accept that our kids' peer groups are smaller than at other schools as the flip side of having small classes and individual engagement from teachers. As our older son begins looking at colleges, the dedicated college counseling they provide is also a huge plus.

Our experience at M.I.S has been mostly great, my child has attended for 6 years and it feels like a home away from home. The teachers are truly invested in my daughter`s education and her growth as a well-rounded global citizen. I love M.I.S because of the smaller class sizes, and adjustments made as needed to meet my child`s needs. The head of school and staff are very knowledgeable about the complexities of our children including the different ways they learn. There is a strong parent association that works closely with the school and both parties are dedicated to the school`s success. Children have the opportunity to travel to great places such as France, Spain, Peru, Guatemala, and other countries. This gives them opportunities to practice the languages they are taught at MIS and create relationships with families around the world. Younger students take trips to Savannah, Washington D.C., and other exciting cities. It's a smaller school but it will have a big impact on your child's life.
