Beginning in Preschool, Frenchis not simply a subject but also the language of instruction.English increases as the grade levels move up.

  • The vast majority of our teachers hold Master`s or Ph.D teaching credentials, and at the minimum, hold a Bachelor`s degree. English is taught by well qualified native speakers.
  • Because our children and teachers come from many nations, we stress social studies and the concept that we are all citizens of one world. Our small, nurturing classes and small student-to-teacher ratios facilitate this.

Absolutely delightful French school! Despite not speaking French at home, we were determined to provide our child with the incredible gift of learning another language. In just her first two years (pre-K and Kindergarten), she has achieved remarkable fluency in both French and English, impressively grasping the ability to understand, speak, read, and write in both languages. The teachers and faculty at this school are genuinely caring and nurturing, creating a warm and supportive environment. With its small class sizes, students receive ample individual attention, ensuring their needs are met with utmost care. It's truly heartwarming to see how well the children get along, transcending grades and ages effortlessly. The parents are a truly remarkable bunch, coming together to organize delightful and unforgettable events for the students and families through the Parent Association, fostering a sense of camaraderie and joy in the school community.

Our child has been at the International School of OC since the 2016-17 academic year, he was 8. He didn't speak a word of English; he is now totally fluent. Great teachers & staff, excellent curriculum and good values in a harmonious bilingual environment.

We love this school! Our son entered middle school this year and is thriving. We do not speak French at home but made a decision early on to find a bilingual immersion school considering the evidence that multi-language education provided so many benefits. We had to move three times so our son has attended three different French schools. This has turned out to be a tremendous benefit having a French school in most city's. Our son has thrived the most here at this school. It is because, in this friendly family environment, all the kids no matter their grade, support and help each other. So when you add this to the great teachers and leadership this environment has allowed our son to thrive both emotionally and scholastically. If you are considering this school we highly recommend it.

My son started at this hidden jewel when he was 2 1/2. I was looking for a true immersion program, one that didn't just teach a language but "lived" the language: Math in French, Science in French, Art in French. We started at the school as an experiment in bilingualism and 11 years later, my son is graduating 8th grade completely bilingual and bicultural. He has an openness of heart and an understanding of the world that is so different from the average 13-year-old. We have met families from all over Orange County and from all over the world. As he transitions from this little school, with intimate classes, he has been accepted into Honors classes at all three of the high schools to which he applied. We have loved this school, the caring staff and the magic in the classroom. This has been the BEST financial and emotional investment we could have made.

We arrived in LA area in 2014 from France (Toulouse) with 9 and 6 years old children for a 3 years fixed stay. We were hoping to end up with bilingual kids while they would still capable to adapt easily to the french program when we would be back home. After visiting both Lyce franais and LILA, we selected LILA because of the higher french/american mix in terms of academics, and also because Orange Campus allowed for only one location for both children. Our children adjusted just great, especially with the extra lessons of "survival english" the first months, and thanks to the small class size, great support of teachers, staff and students. The 3 years went smoothly, with a lot of fun, great projects, awesome field trips, entertainments and discovery which made it a little difficult to go back to the french stricter approach. On another hand, they were very well prepared for the french academic program. Long story short: LILA is like a family. We highly recommend.

My daughter started LILA as a kindergartener and is now entering 2nd grade. She is happy and thriving in this environment. I chose LILA for many reasons but the top three are 1) the immersion environment. English is my 2nd language and I know how important it is to dive in at a young age. Her French is already beautiful and it`s also excelled her English reading level 2) the small class size lends itself to my little introvert who enjoys being with a smaller group that she has built bonds with. 3) this school flows with creativity and a focus on the arts like no other. It truly allows your child to be their independent self. I highly recommend a tour regardless of whether you speak French or not. This is not an obstacle and will only open many doors for your child.

I joined LILA as a 2nd grade student, did not speak a word of French. I am about to graduate from Harvey Mudd College with a degree in Bioinformatics, and accepted a great job offer at a Bay Area startup. I achieved great academic results the whole way, in part thanks to my LILA education and the excellent mentors, teachers, and friends. LILA has a great, tight-knit community where everyone takes care of each other. I would recommend this school to anyone!

LILA is an extraordinary school. My children are 9 & 6. Both attended LILA from the beginning (almost 7 years ago)..We looked at so many schools and spoke to many directors and teachers before we decided 6 years ago that LILA OC by far was the most outstanding school we wanted for our children! Any loving parent that wants the best of everything for their children, would choose LILA OC! Come and see why LILA OC is the Best Choice in Orange County for yourself.Thank you LILA OC for giving us the BEST experience we always wanted.

Both of my children attended LILA from preschool through 8th grade. They were well prepared for their new high school. My daughter was accepted into the Troy Tech Magnet Program (Fullerton High School district) in 9th grade, which is very competitive. All the teachers at LILA are very caring and dedicated to the students. My children's bilingual experience laid a strong foundation that will benefit them in the future.

LILA is an extraordinary school, well worth a visit if you are considering a bilingual education for your child/children even if you hear firsthand from current and former families. The classes are kept fairly small between 15 and 20 pupils, personal attention is a must in this school. The French curriculum is very rigorous academically and while the English program is pursued concurrently, the academic team still finds time for art and music, ex: in pre-k, children learn about Picasso, Klimt and Louise Bourgeois among others. Study hall and after-school classes are as diverse as they are well thought, a key for working parents who will collect their children after their work day and want homework done. A bilingual education develops a child's brain in a way that monolingual learning cannot achieve, as a parent of 3 children attending the school I very highly recommend consideration of LILAschool. The children love it, parents love it!

I wanted my children to be bilingual - a skill I do not possess and am continually working at. When I looked at all the immersion schools in Orange County, LILA was by far the best. I was impressed pedagogically, and liked that the curriculum incorporated arts, music, theatre and STEM in a fun and engaging manner. My children have been there for 4 years, and my eldest (first grade) is able to carry on conversations in French with a perfect accent. We do not speak French at home, but his has never been an issue. And it is fun for me to learn along with her!
