School Reviews

Ascension Academy is the best school in the Panhandle. The students have so many opportunities to not only participate but also to excel in all areas of academics, sports and the arts. The class size is small and the teachers really care for each of their students. They work really hard to make sure that their students are challenged, but they also make sure that they understand and learn the material. When they graduate and go onto college, the students are extremely well prepared academically. They also teach the students how to be true leaders so they can become the best version of themselves.

Ascension puts academics first. There are sports and student organizations, but they do not overshadow academics. Students are held to a high but reasonable standard of academic performance and discipline. Students are polite and respectful. Creativity is valued. It's a small, close-knit school community. Teachers know who all the students are, even students who are not in their classes. Parent involvement is encouraged, but volunteer hours are not required (nor is donation in lieu of volunteering). I am a parent volunteer, helping weekly at the lunchtime snack bar, interacting with students and seeing their good behavior firsthand. All races, religions, and income levels are welcome (there is financial aid for low-income students).
Endorse Ascension Academy. Endorsements should be a few sentences in length. Please include any comments on:
- Quality of academic programs, teachers, and facilities
- Availability of music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities
- Academic or athletic awards
