  • The Diocese of Wheeling Charleston founded Wheeling Catholic Elementary School in 1896 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Wheeling Catholic Elementary School as it is known today was also called Cathedral Parish School and Wheeling Catholic Consolidated School. Wheeling Catholic Elementary School's primary area of focus is twofold ' education and inner-city services. We are an inner-city school and the last elementary school in the immediate area serving neighborhood children. WCES is a central school meaning more than one parish church subsidizes the budget.
