School Notes
The philosophy of The Summit is that each child has his or her own
individual gifts and talents. Our responsibility is to help
identify each child's gifts to reach their highest potential. We
also believe that each child develops at his or her own pace.
Learning is not a race to see who gets there first, but an
individual process in which children must be nurtured, supported,
and challenged to do their best.We believe learning is natural and
should be an enjoyable experience. We will help our students
experience the JOY of learning and the satisfaction of
accomplishment.
The Summit was founded in 2004 by a group of parents who desired a different and inspiring environment for their children to grow and learn. In 2005, the first school year began with 60 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Each academic year, the program was expanded one grade level until 2010, when 12th grade and Pre-Kindergarten were added to the program. In the 201213 school year, the Beginners program for three- and four-year-old students was added.

- Parents support learning at home by reinforcing classroom concepts and participating in extracurricular experiences.
- Students are encouraged to reach their full potential and are celebrated for their achievements and excellence.
- Through inquiry-based learning and project-driven curriculum, students take responsibility for their own learning and become active participants in their school, local, and global community.
- The Summit curriculum is centered on educating the whole child, incorporating instruction in core curricular disciplines, such as mathematics, communication arts, science, and social studies, as well as non-traditional areas, such as character development, fine arts, citizenship, and foreign language.
- The foreign language program currently consists of daily Spanish instruction, starting in Beginners, and building to college-level Spanish, as well as additional languages in the high school years. Students also have the opportunity to learn Mandarin through weekly and monthly club events.

The Summit is an excellent place for students to grow. They give students a very good education and teach fantastic presenting skills. The teachers are nothing short of absolutely amazing! Every teacher really connects with the students, and you can tell they enjoy their job. I have been at the summit for 4 years now and I couldn't imagine leaving! The school is very flexible and can really form to the child's needs and wants. I love animals and wanted to volunteer more, so instead of taking a class at the end of the day, I can go volunteer and earn a credit that way. Things like that are what make the summit special and different than other schools. I would recommend this school to any student who values their education and future.

Our daughter has attended the Summit for five years and we couldn't be happier. She receives daily Spanish instruction, follows a project-based curriculum with STEAM, music, art, along with excellent teacher instruction in core classes. She's excited to go to school every day! A very positive learning environment with great academic results.
