School Notes
- San Gabriel Christian School exists to extend the ministry of San Gabriel Community Church into the community by offering the highest quality education in an environment that encourages the development of committed followers of Jesus Christ.
- Established in 1949 as a ministry of San Gabriel Community Church, San Gabriel Christian School has consistently offered a Christ-centered quality education for over years. The formation of the school can be traced to the late 1800s when a group of Bible-believers met in a home to study God`s Word. Out of this Bible study, grew San Gabriel Community Church. The Bible was at the heart of the preaching/teaching ministry of the church. The church had a vision for the future, and in a significant step of faith, established San Gabriel Christian School in 1949. As the school grew, it was soon evident that more space was needed, so in the 1950s and 1960s, additional land was purchased and the 18-classroom Stewart Building was erected. Years later, a multi-purpose building/gymnasium was constructed with additional classrooms.
- San Gabriel Christian School has provided an excellent Christ-centered education to thousands of students in the San Gabriel Valley. Students continue to be impacted by the gospel, a caring staff, a quality education, and an unwavering commitment to God`s Word. SGCS provides a challenging course of study emphasizing reading and mathematics and focus in the core academic subject areas of English, Bible, history, and science. We offer a robust education with specialty teachers in art, vocal and instrumental music, physical education, library, special education, English Language development, and foreign language. We continue to progress in our teaching methodology with the implementation of our one-to-one iPad program in 4th-8th grade. We strive to glorify God by providing academic excellence in a Christ-centered curriculum and are accredited by both the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The majority of our our students score in the top 15% of national norms on annual state testing, with most of our middle school students scoring at the post-high school level. The school has long established its desire to uphold the whole child; academically, socially, physically and spiritually.

We love SGCS and have had 3 kids at this school. There are so many things to love about this school but here are a few:- The teachers love their jobs and are truly dedicated to the kids. My kids have had amazing teachers who teach them so much. They give personalized attention to the students. And they care about them beyond academics. They care about their character as well and are praying for the kids daily. My kids LOVE the teachers they've had.- The principal and office staff are amazing. The principal is an amazing leader and all the kids and parents love her. She really cares about all the families. Along with the office staff, she makes the school fun and puts a lot of care into putting together amazing school-wide events, e.g., Thanksgiving lunch, science night, fun run, open house, K and 8th graduations, etc.- In elementary school, the kids go on great field trips every year. A highlight is going on a Sacramento trip in 4th/5th grade. In middle school, they have a class trip each year - science camp, Catalina, and then East Coast/DC.- The music and drama programs are amazing. Only one of my kids has been inclined to the arts but she really enjoyed it! The drama teacher is AMAZING!!! This school is a hidden gem!

I really wanted my child to grow up with a Christ-centered faith and attend a private Christian school with quality instruction. I knew I had to do my research and visit multiple campuses before my husband and I narrowed our choice down to San Gabriel Christian School. What a blessing it has been! Mrs. Sykes gave us a tour of the campus. She answered all of our questions. My child was very excited to attend this school after passing her evaluation. We wanted something more than just taking our child to church on Sundays. We wanted Christianity to be part of our child's daily life. Principal Mrs. Bialon is so kind and friendly to the students and parents. The students are taught math, English, history, science, art, and PE. They also get library time and recess. School instruction is incorporated with a Christian worldview. Bible study and prayer are included in the curriculum as well as Chapel service on Fridays led by Mr. Hoover. The kids get to sing lots of worship songs. San Gabriel Christian School also has an amazing music program. Parents can choose to enroll their kids in choir, piano, or strings. They perform two school concerts per year. Every student gets the opportunity to participate in the school musical with the K-5th grade Christmas musical or 6th-8th grade spring musical. The school also offers many fun and incredible field trips. The school offers a healthy hot lunch program. The school also offers an optional after-school program called Daycare in case you have to pick up your child after school hours. Older students have the option to participate in team sports. The staff, administration, and faculty are like family. They know everyone by name and face. The teachers have years of experience and love their jobs. Mrs. Lysne is an amazing Kindergarten teacher and did an excellent job teaching the Bible to the kids. The school celebrates traditional holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. I highly encourage any parent to start enrolling their child starting at TK (transitional kindergarten). It is totally worth it and also secures a spot for your child each year. You do not want to wait until 1st grade when the entire classroom is full. Even if the grade is full, still go on the wait list because you never know if spots for the next school year.
