School Notes
- In order to facilitate each student's growth toward being all they can be for the Lord, RCS offers the following:Biblical TrainingThrough weekly chapels, Bible classes, and curricula, a Biblical worldview in all areas of life is strongly stressed to each student during his years of training at RCS. Our primary purpose is to train Christian young people of character to live for Christ in all areas of life-to fulfill God`s purpose and calling for their lives. We are distinctively Christ-centered.Academic ExcellenceRCS places great emphasis on academic excellence. It is the desire of the staff at RCS that each child receive a quality education. Our Stanford 10 Achievement Test scores are consistently well above national averages. RCS students are challenged to pursue post-secondary education and are prepared to enter that arena with confidence and success.ElementaryAt the elementary level, RCS offers a traditional classroom setting with a focus on the BASICS-reading, writing, and arithmetic. Children learn to read at a young age using our phonics-based curriculum. Academic enrichment is stressed through activities in our media center and participation in fine arts competition.SecondaryOur secondary program stresses readiness for college, the workplace, and successful Christian living in preparation for the fulfillment of God`s purpose for the individual student. At the secondary level RCS offers a unique, non-traditional education designed to provide a Biblical, individualized, and dynamic environment to meet the student`s particular needs. We desire to instill within students a life-long passion to actively learn and grow-both spiritually and academically. Based upon the academic track selected, one of four diplomas can be earned at the time of graduation: an honors (advanced), a college preparatory, a general, and a vocational. The individualization of this setting makes it possible for advanced students to have a dual student status-high school and college simultaneously.Dedicated and Caring FacultyOur highly qualified teachers (with over 215 years of combined experience) equip students with excellence in academics as well as Christian values and Biblical worldview. The low student-teacher ratio enhances the training and care that each student receives at RCS.Training with the Latest TechnologyRCS students have access to modern computers within their learning and media centers, each with filtered internet access. Excellent courses in computer applications, digital art and graphics, language skills, and reading comprehension, vocabulary, and speed are available.Competitive Sports ProgramsAs members of the Foothills Region of the North Carolina Christian School Association Conference and Carolina Christian Conference, RCS offers boys` basketball and soccer and girls` volleyball and basketball. The athletic program focuses upon the development of skills, self-discipline, and Christian sportsmanship.Fine ArtsRCS offers weekly music classes. Elementary students participate in fine arts competitions through the North Carolina Christian School Association. Seventh through twelfth level students compete in Regional and International Student Conventions in nearly 150 different events designed to develop talents in the young people that will serve them a lifetime.Affordable Quality EducationRCS has a reasonable tuition extending the opportunity of a quality, Christian education to families of the greater Rowan County area. Inquire about our special discounted rates for enrolling multiple children in our educational program. Giving your child a solid, Bible-based education is building a foundation that will last a lifetime.EnrollmentWe would be honored to share more information with you about our educational program for your child.
