Overview
St. Thomas Early Childhood Center is prepared to be a blessing to you and your children.
Now enrolling for Kindergarten! With Christ-centered education, we not only strive to achieve academic excellence, but we also work to assist parents with the spiritual training of their children since it is critical that we work together as a team.
Our primary purpose and obligation is to develop in our students such Christ-like attitudes, habits, and skills which are necessary to train the heart, the head, and the hands to be a Christian example to all around him.
The child has certain basic needs: spiritual, physical, mental, social, emotional, and aesthetic.
These need to be satisfied so that the child can live as a free responsible being in Christ, seeking in all things the perfect praise and glory of the risen Lord.
When certain psychological conditions are recognized, such as individual differences, readiness, motivations, purposes and interests, meaning and repetition, the child can learn.
Ruffing Montessori School dedicates itself to providing a quality Montessori education for children aged three through fourteen.
The school, founded in 1959, has been a pioneer in the Montessori approach to education in Ohio and in the United States.
Ruffing was the second Montessori school in the United States at both the pre-primary and elementary levels.
In 1977, Ruffing became the first Montessori school in Ohio to be accredited by the state to operate through the eighth grade.
The academic program at Ruffing flows from nine different learning areas.
Of the nine, three are pre-primary level classes for children aged three through six.
The elementary is composed of two classes for first, second, and third grade students and two classes for fourth and fifth grade students.
The middle school is divided into one class for sixth grade students and one for seventh and eighth grade students.
