Overview
Founded in 1970, School Around Us offers a holistic approach to education that nurtures the mind, body, heart and spirit, and encourages involvement in the natural and global worlds.
The small class size enables teachers to work flexibly with diverse learning styles and cultivate students' individual interests. Students come to SAU from communities throughout southern Maine.
Berwick Academy, chartered by John Hancock in 1791, serves over 600 students in grades Pre-K through 12 and post-graduate. While also offering boarding opportunities, the student body represents over 60 communities in the north shore of MA, NH, and southern ME and offers 8 bus routes with 25 stops for easy access to the Hilltop. Berwick`s extensive arts and athletics programs complement a rigorous academic curriculum, which balances tradition with innovation and prepares students for a complex and dynamic world.
Students are empowered to be bold to take risks, own their learning, ask the difficult questions, pursue their passions, and to discover and be their own authentic selves.
