School Overview
Overview
Established in 1974, New Morning offers preschool and kindergarten programs, as well as school age before and after school programs.
Our early childhood program is based on the belief that learning is best accomplished when it is fun for the child.
The school is filled with learning centers which are carefully conceived to arouse the child's interest in letters, numbers, and eventually all the readiness skills.
The social aspects of learning are emphasized, such as how to play with peers, how to make good decisions, how to respond to discipline and related concepts.
It is a program designed to meet the needs of each individual child.
The Montessori School of Bedford was founded in 1984. The emphasis of our program is to provide children 3-6 years of age with an enriched and balanced social and academic environment.
It is a non-competitive environment where the children are encouraged to work according to their own interests and abilities.
It is our role to assist the child in developing life skills that will carry them throughout their adult life.
Without pressuring the child academically, the child is allowed to develop at his/her own pace, learn the importance of making responsible choices and actively direct his/her own experiences.
Through careful observation we can monitor a child's learning process and connect them to the materials they are ready for.
Our role is to prepare the environment so that it meets the needs of the child's development relating to social skills, emotional growth, and physical coordination as well as cognitive preparation.
A well-prepared environment allows the child to be independent. Therefore, not having to rely on the adult as the main source of information promotes success and self-esteem.
Most important is for the child to experience the joy of learning and develop a positive self-image.
