Overview
Overview: The Child's Garden was founded in 1991 and is a mixed-age Preschool and childcare center located in Montpelier.
It occupies a farmhouse on a beautiful tract of land with hills, open meadows and forest.
We use the open space for hiking, festivals and lots of sledding in the winter months.
Our classes are small with a maximum class size of 15 at the Child's Garden. The Child's Garden is a satellite program of the Orchard Valley Waldorf School.
With locations in Montpelier and East Montpelier, the Orchard Valley Waldorf School was founded in 2004 and is the result of a coordinated effort by the families of the Child's Garden in Montpelier and the Three Rivers School in Berlin to establish a permanent home for a Waldorf grade school in central Vermont.
Our East Montpelier campus is located on a beautiful 55-acre property set on rolling hills, extensive river frontage, and spectacular views.
Montpelier Montessori School is opened with twelve 3 and 4 year olds in an office space on spring street in Montpelier and grew to almost 35 children in 2006.
With this extraordinary growth, the school moved to its current location at Karl Circle in Berlin, just east of Montpelier along US Rte 2.
In the fall of 2010 the school added an elementary program to serve children ages 6 to 9 with plans for further growth.
The mission of the Montessori School is to help children of ages 2 through 10 realize the fullness of their developmental potential during these formative years.
Our schools provide carefully prepared environments and specially trained adult guides, who illuminate the organizing principles of this work to the children's parents.
The schools are guided in their mission by the discoveries and lifelong work of Dr. Maria Montessori.
