Learning the Montessori way feels more like play than work to young children.

Since children have a natural drive and curiosity to master their own bodies and environment, Dr.

Montessori used the term "work" to describe the effort that the children put toward this out of respect for them.

The Montessori materials and classroom activities, which are specifically designed to foster the development of the whole child, are hands-on, engaging, and fun for the child to work on.

At Lakewood Montessori, we also provide plenty of time for outdoor learning and unstructured outdoor activity, which gives children the opportunity to connect with nature.

Lavonna Peterson Early Childhood Schools is based on that of Maria Montessori as she developed her Children's Houses; placing emphasis on what she referred to as the "triad": the individual child, the prepared environment, and the teacher as the observer and a director.

This School uses Maria Montessori program. Dr. Maria Montessori believed that no human being is educated by another person.

He must do it himself or it will never get done.

A truly educated individual continues learning long after the hours and years he spends in the classroom because he is motivated from within by a natural curiosity and love for knowledge.

Dr. Montessori felt, therefore, that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn.
