Overview
The Hiland Hall School creates a learning environment where students of different ages can interact with each other.
We support what's known as an "emergent curriculum"; the curriculum emerges from the thoughts, interests and needs of the students.
Our methods are founded upon practice developed over the last thirty years by other progressive institutions such as the Prospect School and Bank Street School.
Our emphasis is on "learning to learn"; we encourage active thinking, problem-solving, and group interaction.
Children have regular individual conferences and lessons with their teachers, emphasizing skill development and expansion of thinking. This is a fun place -- but it has a serious mission.
A school assists in the unfolding of individual potential.
Maple Street School, an independent co-educational day school in Manchester, Vermont, offers a quality education to children in kindergarten through grade eight.
Through a stimulating curriculum, value is placed on high academic achievement, meaningful engagement in the visual and performing arts, participation in athletics, and the development of individual and social responsibility.
We instill in our students the joy of learning so that they may know the satisfaction of attaining knowledge and understanding.
