Overview
Hazel Creek Montessori is a large covered equestrian center with schooling horses for riding lessons.
Each student is given riding lessons as part of their outdoor education.
Riding teaches the child to activate and use various parts of the body, in new and varied ways, acquiring skills that in the course of time become an integral part of his or her life.
Riding entails active involvement and self-discipline, improves the rider's self-image, balance and spatial orientation and encourages his or her independence and decision making abilities.
The Island School is a K-5 program on Bainbridge Island serving families from the greater Kitsap region.
Families choosing to enroll in our program seek a supportive community where the child is celebrated for their strengths as well as their challenges; a teaching model that actively involves student voice and perspective; an educational environment that fosters respect and care for others different and similar from the status quo; where students are seen as capable citizens who can make a positive difference.
