Overview
The Frost Montessori School was established in 1997 for the education of children 21 months to 6 years old.
Dr. Maria Montessori was one of the great pioneers in the study of child development, and her studies resulted in the educational philosophy that we follow here.
She was the first woman to receive a medical degree in Italy, graduating from the University of Rome Medical School in 1896.
Early in the twentieth century she began working with a group of children in a slum area of Rome.
Each teacher will provide a learning environment that is appropriate to the developmental stages of the children and will direct a class where each child is seen as a person with individual needs and concerns.
Inspiring and guiding our students to become global citizens through critical thinking, mindful action and joyful responsibility towards their educations, others and the earth.
Mountaintop is one of only two schools in Virginia to be fully accredited by both the American Montessori Society and the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
