Overview
Fairhaven Seventh-Day Adventist School has as its mission: To provide affordable, quality Christian Education, to better prepare children for their spiritual, moral and social responsibilities, while mastering academic studies that will better prepare them for the world in which we live.
Principal, John Adeogun and Assistant, Terinza Osborne, have taken up the charge and challenge of training our SDA young people for the Lord's service.
After much prayer and planning by those few members, the following year saw the beginning of a new school.
The Michigan Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists sent H. T. Saulter to serve as Principal/Teacher of the Flint No.2 S.D.A. School. In ensuing years, many dedicated teachers followed.
Small, multi-age one-room school with highly individualized instruction aimed at academic excellence. Takes ages 4-17, with anywhere from 2 to 16 students. (Usual size is about 8.) Students usually gain 1 to 2 years every year of instruction, but three years of improvement is not unknown. COMMON CORE IS NOT USED IN THIS SCHOOL. Instead, traditional methods of reading and math instruction are standard, with an emphasis on Western Civilization, character training and problem solving.

This is the cost for non-church members (school is housed at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church) but is not strictly Anglican in nature. Any Christian or non-Christian is welcome but Jews or Muslims might feel a little out of place. Tuition for church member is $275. Kindergarteners and first graders are half-price (to encourage getting a good phonic grounding for reading to enhance future education.) Members of the church have sometimes helped a child or family with tuition.
