Notes for Prospective Students

The steps to determine if a child is eligible to attend the Long Island School for the Gifted: 1. Intellectual Testing (IQ) of 130 or Higher 2. The Parent meets with the Principal to discuss their gifted child 3. Achievement Testing Your child will spend a day or two (depending) at the school for teacher evaluation in a classroom/school environment. We will evaluate basic skills in behavior, fluency with reading, comprehension, writing skills, arithmetic, math problem solving and performance in a peer environment. 4. Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) After your child spends a day in our school each teacher creates an evaluation report for the IPRC to review and determine if your child is the right fit for our academic environment.
