Notes for Prospective Students
What is the Hovnanian School? We are a private, non-profit,
co-educational Day School accredited by the New Jersey Association
of Independent Schools (NJAIS) and Middle States Association of
Colleges and Schools. Classes range from nursery school through the
8th grade. Professional second language instruction is offered from
the earliest grades through the transitional years of junior high
school. Who may attend the Hovnanian School? We accept all
applications for grades Early Learning Center (ELC)- grade 8. Any
child who has turned 3 years old by September 1 may apply for our
Nursery. Children younger than three may enter our ELC, Nursery,
and Pre-Kindergarten at Hovnanian School are not treated as day
care, but rather are classes of active instruction. If the number
of qualified applicants exceeds available spaces, priority is given
to siblings of students enrolled in Hovnanian School. How long is
the school day? The hours for grades 1-8 are from 8:25 a.m. to 3:35
p.m. and for ELC-Kindergarten from 8:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. For those
families who need the convenience of a longer school day,
after-school supervision is available from Monday through Friday at
an additional cost. How does the Hovnanian School meet the needs of
a fast-changing information-driven world? Technologically, we are
one of the most advanced schools in the area in both instruction
and equipment. Our school has a complete laboratory of networked
Apple Macintosh computers with access to color printers, high-speed
DSL, and many portable laptops capable of connecting to printers
and the Internet wirelessly. An extension to our school building
with a high-school size gymnasium, a brand new Science Laboratory,
four new classrooms, an equipped cafeteria, and a school library.
Is your child safe at the Hovnanian School? Every effort is made to
keep the building and classrooms environmentally safe and
physically secure. Public health and safety inspections take place
regularly. Student accident insurance is provided for all
school-sponsored activities at no additional cost. A full-time
registered nurse is also available for on-premise treatment.
