Notes for Prospective Students
The first step is to visit our website to complete an inquiry form.
Parents will share diagnostic, school and therapeutic reports
prior to the virtual parent meeting. Students in Kindergarten
(and possibly 1st grade) may not have primary diagnosis of
dyslexia, because they are too young for testing, yet they should
be suspected to have the diagnosis or have a family history of the
language-based learning disability. All candidates (possibly 1st,
and older) have a primary diagnosis of dyslexia,
dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia confirmed through diagnostic
testing. During the virtual parent meeting, parents will meet
with the head of school and the admissions representative to
discuss the student's strengths and needs as well as discuss
diagnostic reports. The student is then invited to have an
in-person tour of the school and participate in a brief screening.
Parents are provided an in-person screening during the student's
visit. This student screening visit typically lasts one hour. The
admissions representative will meet with your student and do a
simple assessment of their reading, writing, spelling, and math
skills. Your student will also be able to visit a classroom, meet
teachers, and meet with a counselor to discuss their school
experiences. After the screening visit, you will be contacted by
the admissions representative to discuss the input from the
screening visit and you will be informed if the the appropriate
next step is the completion of the online application. An
admissions decision is typically made and communicated within 1-2
business days, following the screening visit.
