School Notes
- Highlander Academy traces its beginnings to 1969 and the establishment of Robeson Country Day School in Lumber Bridge. RCDS moved onto the former Flora Macdonald College Campus in 1974 and later became Flora Macdonald Academy, now Highlander Academy.
- The Mission of Highlander Academy is to provide a values-based, college preparatory education in a small, safe, nurturing environment in order to fulfill our ultimate goal of educating today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
- Our motto, "Disciplina Iuvenes Christo", translates as "Educating Young People in Christ." While not affiliated with a particular church or denomination, the beliefs and values exemplified by Christ provide the framework for life at Highlander Academy. As an institution with students of varied religious backgrounds, we lift up our Christian faith as an example to students of all faiths, with the belief that religion, properly understood, is an impetus to better understand ourselves, our religious heritage and our core values.
- Our campus exudes a sense of history. Located in Red Springs on the campus which was originally Flora Macdonald College, extensive gardens and grounds surround a building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our past inspires our future, defined by our students as they add their own chapters to our rich history.
- Highlander Academy is Accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

I have a 6th grader and a 1st grader that go to Flora McDonald, which has been renamed to Highlander Academy. It is amazing. My children have both done a complete turn around. They have gone from hating school to loving it. The teachers are awesome. They go out of their way to make sure the children understand the work. I am so happy with the school.

Very pleased, my son has been attending FMA for two years and I am impressed with the faculty and the level of education my son is receiving. Very family oriented atmosphere with a professional and focused staff. My son will continue to attend until he graduates HS.

Academic programs are better than they have been with continuous growth for the future. Music and art departments are being worked on to be up to standard by next school year, athletics is very strong and we have many club activities that are moving strongly in the 2011-2012 year. Located in an historic building in Red Springs the school offers much more for students than what is available locally. Parents are encouraged to be active participants to better make a well rounded student. Your child will be in a SAFE environment.
