Notes for Prospective Students
No formal diagnosis is required, however, our students often
possess traits or diagnoses of Asperger`s, Autism Spectrum Disorder
(High Functioning, Level 1), Social Communication Disorder,
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety, Sensory
Processing Disorder, NVLD and other communication disorders.Our
students are often described as:Enjoying being by themselves, yet
want friends.Very aware of social situations, but have difficulty
engagingEnjoying special interests such as technology, Legos, Harry
Potter books, Star Wars, superheros, trains/planes/automobiles,
weather/science/animals, coding, and video gamesDoing well in
school with proper social-emotional support and
care-givingTeacher-pleasers, rule-followers, "policing" the
room/classroom, justice-seekers, struggling with fair vs.
equalPsychological and Educational EvaluationParents must provide a
current (within 2 years) comprehensive psychological and
educational evaluation to The Epiphany School of Charlotte. This
document will be requested at the onset of the official application
process. It is important to have updated evaluation ready before
applying.Classroom VisitsEpiphany staff may observe your child in
his or her current school setting. Prospective students will
participate in two to three scheduled days at Epiphany. As part of
the visit, prospective students participate in a regular school day
in his or her current grade (including classroom and physical
education activities).
