Notes for Prospective Students

Entering preschoolers should turn three by December 31 of the year of admission and be toilet trained. Camellia`s kindergarten is a developmentally appropriate, two-year program. Students entering kindergarten should have turned four or five by May 31 of the year of admission. Students entering first grade must have turned six by May 31 of the year of admission and must demonstrate readiness for first grade as determined by the faculty. We find that many children who turn six in June and July are not fully ready for first grade and benefit tremendously from continuing in a kindergarten program. Students applying for second through eighth grades should have reached the appropriate entrance age by May 31 of the year of admission.
