School Notes

  • The Okmulgee community struggles with offering quality educational opportunities for our young people. As in many small towns, its schools have struggled to compete for diminishing public resources. Without solid educational opportunities, young people have tended to leave school early and perpetuate the cycle of poverty. In response to this challenge, through community support, Stonebridge Academy opened its doors in 2010. Now offering P3 through 8th-grade preparatory school experience, Stonebridge Academy's goal is to build a solid foundation for the path to higher education through a rigorous experience. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 15 students to provide individualized attention and support. The school's motto says it all- "Be Kind, Work Hard, Get Smart!"
